Equalities
Equality and respect are strong at Leighterton Primary School. ‘Respect’ is part of our SMART code.
Our children learn that their behaviour has an effect on their own rights and the rights of others. All members of the school community treat each other with respect and this is reiterated through our learning and teaching environments. All children, regardless of circumstances, are able to access the wider curriculum, such as school trips.
All children with a barrier to their learning have access to support, regardless of ability or circumstances. Leighterton Primary School is committed to monitoring all children’s progress and particularly potentially vulnerable children’s progress. Children who are particularly vulnerable (eg pupil premium/ looked after children etc) are closely monitored to ensure they are developing in line with our school’s expectations.
All children are encouraged to take responsibility of their classroom environment, including a fair delegation of classroom jobs, irrespective of gender etc. Fund raising is an important part of life at Leighterton Primary School and it teaches our children the vital traits of compassion, generosity and humanity for others, how to share and think of others.
