Assessment

Assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning that takes places at Leighterton. It is an on-going process, which informs the child and teacher which steps are needed to enhance and develop their skills, capabilities, knowledge and understanding.

The children are assessed in various situations and with various methods across a wide range of subjects and areas, through activities, marking, discussion and formal testing.  Targets are introduced to the children through discussion and relate to the next step of learning that is needed to increase their confidence, interest and capabilities. Parents are also invited to share in this process at regular parents’ meetings with the class teacher.
